Da brothars in da hoods
Perhaps one of the most rewarding things about being a photojournalist is the access. The possibility to see so many places most people will never get to see in person. Because they are not allowed or perhaps simply becuse tradition - or their own disposition - prevents them from asking. But as a photojournalist it is expected that you are inquisitive, follow people around to see what they do, and photograph it for a living (though the "for a living" part is under pressure). People will also share their intimate and personal moments, and it is a privilege to be part of that. A recent assignment in a monastery is a good example of the things I get to do, that I enjoy. I probaly wouldn't email (it is 2010 after all) a monk in a monastery in a fairly remote part of Norway to see what their daily life is like, was it not for the camera that is my ticket.

What a gorgeous, fascinating and odd series, Felix. Especially the one of the monk at the computer grabbed me for minutes.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Daan. But when it comes to odd, you are the king!
