Got it covered

The last few days seem to have been a lot about books and covers. For me, the most fun was going to the post office with Marianne (Felix Features and life partner) to pick up her first book, on travel journalism. It was great to see all her hard work finally translated into a nice 224 page book. Well done, Marianne! And the cover didn't look too shabby either, if I may say so myself.

I also just found out I have the cover of another book, Curfewed Night by Basharat Peer, coming out in the US. The same book is being published in the UK and Commonwealth as well, possibly with the same picture, later. When I first returned from Kashmir last year I was a bit frustrated with the lack of interest in material from that area, but in the end it proved to be a worthwhile trip, with several features and individual pictures printed. And hopefully more to come.

This week the latest magazine from Amnesty Norway also came out. Despite a good relationship with the editor (Marianne), none of my images made it to the cover (but I have some inside). However, Felix Features was able to provide a great picture by George Osodi/Panos Pictures to illustrate the coverstory on Nigeria.

Lastly, two friends also came out with books just now: Helle Aarnes and Sophie Aaserud have both earned themselves a break from their laptops for a while now! Well done and congratulations to both!

  1. Fredrick, thanks for the great pictures from Kashmir. Had to choose one of yours for my book Curfewed Night when I saw it on Photoshelter.

    Best Wishes,
    Basharat Peer

  2. Great to hear from you Basharat, and I am happy you liked my pictures! I hope I get the chance to return to Kashmir soon, a fantastic place and lovely people despite its' troubles.
